Online Parents Webinar - Empowering Students after High School

Walton County School District and Social Circle City Schools Partner with Next Steps Foundation to Offer “Empowering Parents” Webinar on Career Choices During and After High School

Navigating the Future: A Collaborative Effort to Equip Parents with Essential Insights

Navigating a career path both during and after high school can feel scary and overwhelming. The numerous choices (college, military, straight to work, trade school training) and costs associated with those choices are what students and their parents need to know now.

To provide information and support local parents in advising and preparing their students for life after high school, the Walton County School District (WCSD) and Social Circle City Schools (SCCS) have partnered with the Development Authority of Walton County and the Next Steps Foundation to offer a free webinar, “Empowering Parents.”

Parents and students are invited to participate in this interactive and informative webinar scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

“We are excited about partnering with the Development Authority of Walton County and Next Steps Foundation to provide this opportunity for local parents and students," said WCSD Superintendent Nathan Franklin. "Attendees will hear valuable career information and be able to meet with actively hiring employers in separate virtual breakout rooms. In addition to meeting with employers such as the Mechanical Contractors Association of Georgia (MCAG), Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association (AECA), Atlanta Gas Light, and additional local industries, students and their parents will have the opportunity to meet online with education, military, and apprenticeship representatives.”

While the webinar is a free event, it is important that interested students and parents register in advance. To secure a spot, individuals must register online at https://bit.ly/EmpoweringParentsRegistration.

“We encourage all high school students and their parents to attend this webinar,” said SCCS Superintendent Carrie Booher. “This is a great opportunity for them to learn about the many options to consider during and after high school. Plus, they get the opportunity to connect with actively hiring companies offering great opportunities in Walton County and the east metro region of Georgia.”

This webinar is sponsored by MCAG, AECA, Atlanta Gas Light, and the Technical College System of Georgia.
