Technology Help

The Walton County School District utilizes Chromebooks and a number of software products to enhance the educational process.  A student's teacher and the school media specialist can help with most issues related to Chromebooks and specific software used in the classroom.

There are three main programs utilized by the district to help students access these programs, teacher assignments, and grades.  In addition, Talking Points is used for parent/teacher communication.  Information on these programs as well as links for assistance with them can be found below.

Clever

Clever
Clever is a student portal is used to help students log into all district-supported programs as well as many programs teachers ask their students to use. Once a student is logged into Clever he or she does not need to log into individual programs - all of that is taken care of through Clever.  This cuts down on the number of usernames and passwords students use, making access to programs much easier.

  • Is there a parent login for Clever?
    • Walton County School District does not use Clever parent logins.

Schoology

Schoology
Schoology is a learning management system (LMS) which allows students and teachers to interact online both in and outside of the classroom.  Teachers typically use Schoology to house assignments, links, videos and other instructional materials that are needed to succeed in that teacher's class.

Infinite Campus

Infinite Campus
Infinite Campus (IC) is the Student Information System (SIS) for the Walton County School District. This system houses any data related to a student, including their household information, class schedules, grades, transcripts, attendance and test results.  Parents of students in grades K–12 have access to class schedules, attendance records and grades through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal which is an easy-to-use, secure communications tool. Additionally, the Parent Portal allows parents to verify contact information, including their email address, home address and telephone numbers.

TalkingPoints

TalkingPoints
Walton County School District uses many avenues to communicate with parents (email, phone calls, etc.).  However, in order to provide a text messaging option (preferred by most parents), WCSD utilizes Talking Points.  Additionally, Talking Points allows parents to receive texts in their native language, even when teachers sent the text in English.

  • Request Talking Points Help
  • How do I sign up for Talking Points?
    • Parents are signed up automatically in Talking Points based on their information in Infinite Campus.  You should automatically get text messages when teachers send them.
  • I am not getting text messages from my child's teacher.
    • If you are not getting text messages from your child's teacher, it may be that you had the app installed at one point and now it is not installed because you have a new phone or deleted it for some reason.  If that's the case, Talking Points will think the app is still installed and will try to send messages to the app.

To fix this, log out of the app then uninstall it.  Once that is done, you should begin to receive text messages.

If the app is not installed, install the app (
Click Here for Apple  |  Click HERE for Android) and log in, then log out and uninstall the app.  This will let Talking Points know that you have opted out of the app and will switch your account to receive text messages.

If this does not work and you continue to have issues,

  • Can I use the app and get text messages?
    • No.  You can either use the app or get text messages - you can't do both.
  • I used the app but now want to get text messages.
    • If you installed the app at one point but would prefer to receive text messages, log out of the app then uninstall it.  Once that is done, you should begin to receive text messages.

If the app is not installed, install the app (Click Here for Apple  |  Click HERE for Android)
and log in, then log out and uninstall it.  This will let Talking Points know that you have opted out of the app and will switch your account to receive text messages.

  • My cell phone number has changed - how do I update that in the system?
  • I no longer want to receive Talking Point messages - how do I stop them?
    • If you are using the app, simply uninstall it.
    • If you are receiving text messages, text "Goodbye" to leave a specific message thread and "Stop" to opt out of all communications.
