FY21 Budget

money
The Walton County School District and Board of Education pride themselves on being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. The district believes that it is essential to plan, secure and allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of students. It is important to note that the district is facing at least a 10 percent state funding reduction from 2019-20 funding levels while also growing over 150 students. The FY21 state revenue cut will be almost double the cut WCSD experienced during the last financial crisis in FY10. To help cover this drastic cut, the district has proposed utilizing federal CARES Act funding, local revenue, available fund balance, staff furlough and operational budget cuts.

Ninety-one percent of WCSD’s general operating budget is salaries and benefits. It costs the district approximately $450,000 a day to pay employee salaries and benefits. For the 2020-21 school year, the district will implement one furlough day for all employees on February 17, 2021. Click here to access the updated 2020-2021 academic calendar.
