MAHS CTAE: Preparing all students for life

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in a rapidly changing economy. Monroe Area’s CTAE programs prepare students for careers that are high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand. Students can complete a CTAE pathway by earning 1 unit of credit per course for the following: an introductory course plus two sequential courses within a state-recognized Georgia CTAE pathway.

Pathways Offered at MAHS
Agricultural Mechanics
Audio-Video Technology and Film I
Business and Technology
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECE) (application is required)
Information Technology - Game Design
JROTC
Manufacturing
Nutrition and Food Science
Public Management and Administration/Social Studies Embedded Pathway
Work-Based Learning (WBL)

These pathways prepare students for many opportunities after graduation, including moving directly to the workforce, starting their own business, joining the military, or enrolling in various postsecondary education programs.

In addition to CTAE coursework, our staff sponsor Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs). CTSOs provide a structure that promotes hands-on, project-based learning of the program curriculum which allows students to see the real world application of their academic studies. These are co-curricular organizations with leadership programs and competitive events that reflect current curriculum standards and competencies for the instructional programs they serve.

See a list of CTSOs offered at Monroe Area with information about how to get involved at this LINK.

Work-Based Learning (WBL) courses are value-added courses beyond the three pathway courses listed. WBL students work at local employers (e.g., internships, paid positions) to gain employability skills and industry exposure.
