Poetry Out Loud!

Congratulations to the Finalists for Poetry Out Loud!   The following students will be competing for the school title, the chance to compete at our region competition and an award of $100! Brooke Sayers, Cody Peters, Bekah Cannon, Cindy Delgado, Ja'niyah Smith, Kyleigh Ray, Konner Star, Daisy Teague, Clayton Maddox, Desiree Joslin, Ananda Jones, Alexis Eiche, and Kaitlin Fisher. These students  will need to present their poems on January 30, at 3:30pm for a panel of judges.  If they want to see the ballots, they can view them on PoetryOutLoud.org. They should dress nicely.  They will be on stage.  Order of performance will be determined by drawing numbers!

Student Council Meeting

Student Council will meet after school Thursday, January 30th in room 113. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you must let Ms. Abdulai know.

FBLA Meeting

FBLA MEMBERS: Our January meeting will be TUESDAY January 28th AT 7:05 AM in Mrs. Tricia Brown's room 215 on the Green Hall. If you haven't brought in your non-perishable food items to REstock the FISH food pantry, please bring them to the meeting. We will also be talking about FBLA week coming up February 3rd - 7th.

Open Studio

Announcing "Open Studio" by Mr. Pruett where serious art students can work on personal art projects and receive critique and feedback from other serious students and the instructor. We will meet every Thursday from 3-4:30 pm  in the back art room on the black hall room 251.

Yearbook Senior Superlative Voting

DeShayla Eley enlisted into the Army Reserves. She received thirty thousand dollars towards higher education. Thank you, DeShayla!

Podcast Cafe

Students, have you ever wondered what it would be like to have your very own podcast? Well now is your opportunity to learn how to create and share your personal podcast with the world. Introducing Podcast Cafe! Come join us in 21st Century, every Wednesday from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm and learn how to create and share professional podcasts with your family and friends. For more information contact Mr. Lamb or Ms. Johnson on the Purple Hall Room 244B.

Congratulations Jesse!!

Please congratulate Jesse Smedley for a PERFECT score on his final All-State audition. He is now officially a member of the 2020 Georgia All-State chorus and will be performing at the Classic Center in Athens on February 29.

Tennis Update!

Calling all guys. The tennis team is looking for a few good men. If you are interested please see Coach Crawford in ISS ASAP.


Students interested in taking the ASVAB test must sign up in the front office. The deadline to sign up is March 16th.

Join FBLA!

Anyone interested in joining FBLA for 2nd semester NOW is the time! See any business teacher: Mrs. Tricia Brown, Mrs. Pamela Blankenship, or Ms. Ava Brooks on the Green & Purple halls. Dues are $15.

FBLA Service Project

FBLA Members:  Your January Community Service is to bring in non perishable food items to help REstock the F.I.S.H. food pantry. Bring your items to Mrs. Tricia Brown in Room 215 on the Green Hall.

21st Century Book Drive

MAHS 21st Century Afterschool Program is holding a Book Drive. Please bring books from home that you no longer use and donate to the Book Drive, December 2, 2019 - January 31, 2020.  We are accepting books for all ages (children, teens, and adults).  Books may be dropped off and placed in a box in the front office.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Johnson the Site Coordinator for MAHS 21st Century Program.
