New Leadership Hires

The Walton County Board of Education has named a new principal for the 2024-2025 school year. The Walton County Board of Education unanimously approved the recommendation of Dane Callahan at Monroe Elementary School.

"I am excited to welcome Mr. Dane Callahan into his new role for the upcoming school year,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “With his proven track record of exceptional leadership and strong personal connection to the Monroe community, we are confident in Mr. Callahan's abilities to build on Monroe Elementary School's success and continue moving the school forward."

Dane Callahan, assistant principal at Loganville Middle School, has been selected to replace retiring Principal Dr. Zeester Swint at Monroe Elementary School. A Walton County native and former Monroe Elementary School student, Callahan has over 12 years of experience in the Walton County School District, with six years of experience in administration. Callahan began his career as a high school counselor at Walnut Grove High School and served as a middle school counselor at Youth Middle School before transitioning to his current role as assistant principal at Loganville Middle School. Callahan holds a bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College, a middle grades certification from Piedmont College, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and a specialist degree from Valdosta State University.

“I am excited and deeply honored to join the Monroe Elementary School family,” said Callahan. “Having attended Monroe Elementary School and being a resident of Walton County, I am humbled to take on the role of principal at Monroe Elementary School and to work alongside our dedicated staff, parents, and students. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with local business owners and community members to help empower each student to reach their fullest academic, social, and emotional potential.”

In addition to naming the Monroe Elementary School principal, the Walton County Board of Education approved the hiring recommendations for several other positions. Dr. Brad Bolemon, principal of Loganville High School, was named the assistant superintendent of facilities, maintenance, and operations. Monroe Area High School principal Bryan Hicks was named the middle school director for the district. Janna Dial was named the executive assistant to the superintendent.
