Physical Education

Within the PE department, it is our philosophy to promote awareness of the value of physical activity in the pursuit of happier, healthier, more productive lives. It is our goal as physical educators to help students learn about and enjoy the benefits of physical activity.


Each student that is enrolled in PE each quarter will participate in a mandated fitness assessment called the FITNESSGRAM. In order to measure physical gains of each student, we will do both a pre and post assessment (meaning we will assess during the first week and the last week of each quarter) so that we are able to document improvements being made.

The 5 components of the assessment include:
1. Aerobic Capacity: The One-Mile Run
2. Body Composition: Height/Weight
3. Abdominal Strength: Curl-Up
4. Upper Body Strength: Push-Ups
5. Flexibility: Back-Saver Sit and Reach
