Chromebook Information

Welcome 9th Graders and new students!

We are fortunate in Walton County to have the opportunity to provide a Chromebook for each student at Walnut Grove High School. Chromebooks may be taken home after signing and paying for the Student Chromebook Usage and Protection Plan. Both signing the form and paying for it can be completed through MyPaymentsPlus. Paying for the annual the Usage and Protection Plan provides a discounted rate for any repairs or damage done to the Chromebook.

Students / families who would prefer not to sign and pay for the protection plan may use their Chromebook during the school day, turning it in daily to the media center during fourth block and picking it up every morning from the media center. The media center has a charging cart to keep them in, so chargers will remain at school. This process is called Daily Checkouts and begins around the second week of school.

Thankfully, our students take care of their Chromebooks well, and we have been able to give them to elementary schools in the county after they have been used at WGHS for 3 years. We appreciate our Warriors for being so responsible!

Help!
If anything happens to your Chromebook, please bring it to the media center for us to help you. We can help with a variety of things including Schoology, Infinite Campus, password resetting, and damage. While some damages require a fee to be paid first, we do many of the repairs here at school, so you can get it back quickly. Typical damages that require fees are cracked screens and damaged keyboards. Fees can be paid in cash or through MyPaymentsPlus.

Chargers
If you forgot your charger at home, we have a charging cart in the media center for you to use during the day. Just stop by during a block that you won't need it, or during lunch, and drop your Chromebook off with us. We provide a charger the first time you get your Chromebook, and you keep up with it from year to year. If you need to purchase a replacement, we have those too. They can also be paid for in MyPaymentsPlus.

Fees from other schools
Fees from other Walton County Schools follow you and will need to be paid before being issued a Chromebook at WGHS. Of course, we would prefer you take care of those with the issuing school, but we can assist if needed.

Personalization
Students should consider their Chromebooks on loan, much like other equipment the school owns. Personalizing Chromebooks with stickers or writing can incur fees. Remember, other students will be using your Chromebook. We need to keep it in good, working shape and protect the investment. Sometimes students ask if they can use their own device, but our wifi is provided for county owned devices, therefore using a personal device is not allowed.
