Art

Welcome to the WGES Art Room!

Welcome to the Art Room! Please excuse the mess, we're making masterpieces!

In art class, students think, learn, communicate, create, express and explore!
Students will work in a variety of media and techniques to produce studio pieces.
They will draw, paint, make collages, produce ceramics, create prints, explore fiber arts and experiment with current art trends.
Students learn art history, multiculturalism, function and form, aesthetics and practical application to the world around us.

The WGES art program takes their efforts beyond the art classroom.
Student artwork is displayed in our main hallway, at the Board of Education, and in the Walton County community; including the American Legion Poppy Poster contest (a local, state, & national competition).
WGES has also participated in the Walton County School District's annual Elementary Art Exhibit at the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts since the beginning.
You can view a lot of what we do by visiting our Instagram Page: @Walnut.Grove.Art

Check your student's schedule to find out when they come to art! ***Nice clothes are not recommended on Art days!

Each Fall, students have the opportunity to participate in an art fundraiser known as Square 1 Art.
This fundraiser allows family members to purchase personalized items that have their child's artwork on them.

Each Spring, students work on completing a work of art to showcase at our annual Fine Arts Night.
We use the company, Artome to come in and frame, mat and present each students' work gallery style.
This is also a fundraiser for the Art Department, in which you can purchase your student's matted/framed art piece!

Donations of PAPER TOWELS, UNSCENTED BABY WIPES, AND CLEAN PLASTIC CONTAINERS/LIDS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
