Parent and Family Engagement Plan
Walnut Grove Elementary
2022-2023
The Parent and Family Engagement Plan establishes the school’s expectations for parent and family engagement and describes how the school will implement a number of specific parent and family engagement activities.
COMMUNICATIONS
Walnut Grove Elementary School will provide parents:
- Timely information about school programs,
- understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats upon request and, to the extent practicable, in a language parents can understand.
COORDINATION OF SERVICES
Walnut Grove Elementary School will, to the extent feasible and appropriate, coordinate and integrate parent and family engagement programs and activities with other Federal, State, and local programs, including public preschool programs, and conduct other activities, such as parent resource centers, that encourage and support parents in more fully participating in the education of their children.
Coordination with other organizations, businesses, and community partners to provide additional supports and resources to families include PTO and their Partners in Education, Student Success Alliance (SSA), 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC), Pre-K classes and preschool programs whose students will attend the school as kindergarten students (private and non-public pre-schools), community resources including the Boy Scouts, 4H, Sheriff’s Department for CHAMPS, Walton County Fire Services for fire safety, the Parks and Recreation Department, the community library, local agencies (Walton EMC, Dollar General, Meta, The Lions Club, Walmart, etc.) which provide grants and resources, and state agencies such as DFCS.
BUILDING CAPACITY OF PARENTS
Activities and meetings for parents will include Curriculum Night(s), individual parent-teacher conferences and meetings on their child’s learning, PTO events, Fine Arts performances, and awards programs.
Online resources for parents will include school and system websites, school and system Facebook pages, Schoology, Infinite Campus, PBIS Rewards, Parent Portal, and the following websites:

Materials for parents will include newsletters, information concerning student progress, handbooks, information on school and system policies, labels containing information and reminders, and information concerning student progress in the form of report cards, progress reports, and standardized assessment results.
BUILDING CAPACITY OF SCHOOL STAFF
Walnut Grove Elementary School will provide training to educate teachers, specialized instructional support personnel, principals, and other school leaders, and other staff, with the assistance of parents, in the value and utility of contributions of parents, and in how to reach out to, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners, implement and coordinate parent programs, and build ties between parents and the school.
