The Walton County School District is proud to announce that 10 schools have been honored by the National Beta Club as part of the 2020-21 National Beta Schools of Merit and National Beta School of Distinction program.
“We are pleased to have so many local Beta chapters recognized at the national level this year,” said Superintendent Dr. Nathan Franklin. “I commend these schools for going above and beyond to improve their chapters while expanding their students’ knowledge and skills around character, service and leadership. We are extremely proud of their continued commitment towards academic excellence and leadership outside the classroom.”
The National Beta School of Merit award honors a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. By offering National Beta membership to all eligible grades, students are provided with experiences in leadership development and service involvement, which strengthen and build their futures. Only 29% of clubs across the country were awarded this prestigious honor.
National Beta School of Distinction is an honor for clubs striving towards academic achievement, exemplary character, demonstrated leadership and service to others. With an ongoing quest to instill these qualities in more students, the National Beta School of Distinction honor is designed to award schools that show an increase in membership each year. Nationally, only 14% of Beta Clubs received this award.
With more than 500,000 active members and 9,000 chapters nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community and fosters leadership skills.
