Service Academy Information

The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please review the page of Frequently Asked Questions for those seeking a Service Academy Nomination, Service Academy Brochure, and sign-up for Congressman Hice's quarterly Service Academy Newsletter.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: the U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Congressman Hice may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. To request a Military Academy Nomination from our office, please complete the 2022 Service Academy Application and send all pertinent information to the address below. To learn more about the application process, you can view a live recording HERE of the 2021 Service Academy Day. The program, which was held in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts Auditorium at Georgia Military College (GMC), included an inspiring message from GMC President Lieutenant General (Ret.) William B. Caldwell, IV, a presentation on pursuing a congressional nomination, and a question and answer session with a panel of U.S. Service Academy representatives.

Save the date for August 20, 2022 at 10:00 am for this year's event which will take place once again on the main campus of GMC in Milledgeville, and best wishes to you as you pursue your goal of attending one of the U.S. Service Academies and serving our country!
