The Walton County School District is pleased to announce that Michael Youngblood has been selected as the next principal of Carver Middle School, beginning July 1, 2023. Youngblood is currently the principal at Atha Road Elementary School and will be replacing Alan Satterfield who is retiring at the end of the school year after 30 years in education.
“Mr. Youngblood is an individual of the highest quality, both in character and leadership ability,” said Superintendent Franklin. “As an experienced educator and administrator with a proven track record of success at the elementary, middle and high school levels, Mr. Youngblood will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Carver. We are confident in his abilities to build on the school’s successes while continuing to move the needle forward.”
Beginning his teaching career in 2003, Youngblood taught social studies for 10 years before transitioning into leadership as the lead administrator of an alternative school. In 2015, he began his tenure in Walton County as an assistant principal at Youth Middle School. In 2020, he was named principal of Atha Road Elementary School. Youngblood holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Georgia, a master’s degree from Walden University and a specialist degree from Valdosta State University.
“I am thrilled and deeply honored to be named the principal of Carver Middle School. I am truly passionate about education and the positive impact it can have on students' lives, and I am committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive,” said Youngblood. “I am eager to work with all stakeholders, as well as the entire Carver Middle School community to allow our students to reach their maximum potential. Together, we will strive to provide the highest quality education, foster a positive school culture, and empower our students to reach their goals.”
Prior to Board approval, the Walton County School District utilizes hiring committees composed of district administrators and parents to select administrative candidates.
