Nursing Services
School nurses are a vital part of the Walton County School District. Each school has a full-time nurse during school hours.
School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. WCSD school nurses provide health services that increase school attendance and prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases. Our team manages students with chronic health conditions and administers specialized services to students, including medications, insulin, inhalers, tube feedings and tracheostomy care. School nurses are responsible for verification of immunizations and provide hearing/vision screenings.
School nurses improve attendance through health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management. They strive to increase student achievement by promoting and advocating for the health, wellness and safety of all students.
