Workers' Compensation
Workers’ Compensation is a type of insurance that provides financial benefits for medical expenses, lost wages and rehabilitation costs to employees who are injured or become ill in the course and scope of their employment. The Walton County School District is self-insured for its Workers’ Compensation benefits.
A safe working environment is a high priority for the Walton County School District. However, should you become injured or ill, as a result of your job, we want to ensure you receive prompt, quality medical treatment.
All job-related injuries or illnesses that meet the criteria for a serious health condition under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) will run concurrently with Family Medical Leave. The employee’s Workers’ Compensation absence will be counted against the employee’s 12-week FMLA leave entitlement if the employee is eligible for FMLA leave.
An employee must report all injuries immediately to his/her immediate supervisor and complete the appropriate forms in a timely manner. The information and documents needed to report a work-related injury or illness can be found under “Quick Links” on this page. All reports and claims for Workers’ Compensation are handled through the Benefits Office.
