Weekly Update

Weekly Update

January 8, 2021

Dear Families,

In an effort to continue providing transparent information regarding COVID-19 activity in our schools, we are resuming our weekly COVID-19 updates. This week's report only includes cases of individuals who reported to school on Jan. 6-7, 2021. Next week's report will include all cases reported from Jan.8-14, 2021.

Since Jan. 6, Youth Elementary School has had no new positive cases of COVID-19. WCSD reported a total of 2 (.01%) new cases districtwide with 25 (.16%) individuals quarantined this week.

Please help us continue mitigating the risk and spread of illness by:
  1. Keeping students home who are sick, awaiting COVID-19 test results, and/or have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
  2. Encouraging students to wear a mask, especially when in close quarters
  3. Reminding students of the importance of social distancing and handwashing
Free Meal Service Update
The USDA has extended free meal service for all students through the end of the school year. All WCSD students will be eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily, regardless of current meal status (paid, reduced price, or free) through May 26, 2021.

Digital/distance learning students are also eligible to receive meals at no cost but must sign up for meal pickups on a weekly basis. Please visit http://bit.ly/SchoolNutritionMenus to complete the online sign-up form. Digital learning families must complete the online form by Thursday at 4:30 p.m. each week to pick up meals the following Tuesday.

Queridas familias,

Illness

All students and employees who are sick will be required to stay home. Those who become sick or exhibit symptoms at school or work will be sent home immediately. Individuals must be fever-free (temperature under 100.4) for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine before returning.

If a child is running a fever or exhibiting other COVID-19 symptoms, a parent will be contacted to pick up the child. Students with COVID-19 symptoms will be isolated with supervision and be offered a mask while waiting for their parents. WCSD will follow guidelines from the Georgia Department of Public Health when determining the steps to take if a positive case is determined. The current guidelines are subject to change.

Students attending school in person who become sick or are quarantined will be able to receive and complete any missed assignments without penalty. Once a student has met the Georgia Department of Public Health's guidelines for returning to work/school, the student would be able to return to school.
