Walton County Schools
The Walton County School District consists of nine elementary, three middle and three high schools. Walton County voters approved the passage and extension of ELOST to provide funding for several needed projects. Some of these projects include the new Youth Middle School which opened in the fall of 2004, the new Monroe Area High School which opened in the fall of 2005, the new Monroe Elementary School which opened in January of 2007, the new Sharon Elementary School which opened in the fall of 2007, the new Walker Park Elementary School which opened in January of 2008, and the new Walnut Grove High School which opened in August of 2009. Additions have also been added to Bay Creek Elementary School and Walnut Grove Elementary School, both of which were completed in January of 2010.
