Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol

The 4th grade teachers, extensions teachers, and the Safety Patrol sponsors have many conversations each Spring to carefully read and evaluate the 50+ applications we receive each year.  The teachers consider how well students are doing with classwork, behavior, attendance/tardy record, as well as how they will perform as a leader among their peers. Recommendations from former teachers play a vital role in choosing the upcoming students. Approximately 20 safety patrols are chosen each year.

Our current safety patrols get to experience a variety of posts according to their scheduled rotations.  Safety patrols can be library helpers, breakfast helpers, or office helpers.  They also keep order during hallway transitions before and after school.  The car rider posts and the bus rider posts are very popular, as the opportunity to help during this time is invaluable due to the number of students coming and going.  Safety patrols play a vital role every day!

Mrs. Shawn Richards and Mrs. Audra Warhol are the current sponsors.  Each of these teachers is a 5th grade teacher who works closely with each patrol as they learn the new expectations.
Training future leaders is an exciting venture!

Applications are sent home with 4th graders in the Spring of each year.
