MOWR/Dual Enrollment

Monroe Area students are encouraged to move on to college when they are ready to begin taking college courses. Students may take college courses during high school rather than waiting till after graduating from high school. Students may take academic courses and/ or technical electives at the college. Talk to your counselor. Students interested in MOWR/Dual Enrollment should contact their counselor to make an appointment to discuss options.

Students will need a transcript and test scores to complete the college application process. Each college sets their own requirements for admission. Note: MOWR students may have different requirements than high school graduates for college admission.

Dual Enrollment for Athens Tech and other Technical colleges are now available for students who meet the following criteria.

  • Students with a minimum 2.6 HOPE GPA at the end of their sophomore year may be considered for regular admission without providing placement test scores. Students can check their HOPE gpa using their gafutures.org account.
  • Students with a minimum 2.0 GPA may be considered for admission to a select group of workforce certificate programs. Please see your Athens Technical College dual enrollment representative for more information.
  • Students who do not meet the 2.6 minimum HOPE GPA requirement may submit official ACT or SAT scores to the college for consideration. If you do not have ACT or SAT test scores, you may sign up for the college's placement exam (Accuplacer Test).
