Library Procedures

The media center houses many items to assist in instruction.  These items include, but aren't limited to:
  • Approximately 25,000 books:  EASY, FICTION, NON-FICTION, BIOGRAPHY, PROFESSIONAL, REFERENCE
  • Hundreds of EDNA/Guided Reading Tubs Levels K-6
  • Parent Resource Computer
  • WLES Morning Show
  • Two (5) Student Look-Up Computers
  • Instructional Videos/DVDs
Students are permitted to borrow 1-2 library book(s) each week during their specials class.  Kindergarten through 2nd grade may borrow one book at a time.  3rd-5th graders may borrow two books at a time.  Students may visit the media center from 8:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. once daily to exchange their library books.

We appreciate your effort to return books on time. It is our policy that students may only choose a new book(s) if they have returned their library books.  If they have an overdue library book, it must be returned or renewed before checking out another library book.  We do not charge overdue fines but lost or damaged books must be paid for. A notice will be sent home with the fine for lost or damaged books so that the book may be replaced.  Fines may be paid for in MyPaymentsPlus.

It is important for all students to remember proper behavior in the library.  It is a quiet place for all students and staff to use.  Library behavior rules have been discussed with all of the students.
  • Respect one another
  • Stay quiet during story time and lesson
  • Be sure to walk at all times
  • Respect library materials
Book care is also an important part of our library procedures.  We have talked about proper book care together and we remind our students about these important rules.  We would be grateful if parents would emphasize the rules at home.
  • Make sure your hands are clean when you read a book.
  • Do not eat or drink while reading a book.
  • Turn the pages of the book from the top corner.
  • Never pull off barcodes or spine label stickers.
  • Never write, scribble, glue or cut the pages of a book.
  • When reading, use a bookmark to keep your place.
  • Keep your book in a safe place at home so you can find it easily on book return day.
Shelf Markers, lanyards and Books are a MUST when visiting the media center.  Please remember to bring all supplies.

ENJOY READING!
