Back-to-School 2022-23

We are excited about the upcoming 2022-23 school year here in Walton County! A variety of back-to-school resources are available below to help students and families prepare for the first day of school. If additional information is needed, please contact a local school or use the Contact Us form.

School Supplies

The Walton County School District has utilized a portion of federal funds (ESSER III-ARP) to purchase school supplies for elementary, middle and high school students enrolled in WCSD. Parents will only need to purchase a book bag and reusable water bottle for the 2022-23 school year.

Individual school supply kits will be provided for students in grades K-8 on the first day of school or at Open House. Bulk supplies for pre-k and high school students will be distributed at each school as needed. All necessary classroom supplies will be provided as well. Additional supplies needed will be ordered throughout the school year.

However, students may still be eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals during the 2022-23 school year. To be considered for free or reduced price benefits, families must complete an online or paper application unless they have been notified in writing by the School Nutrition office that they are pre-qualified. Applications may be found online here or at each school.

COVID-19 information

COVID-19 has been labeled as a Level II Infectious Disease; therefore, WCSD will apply the same notification procedures for COVID-19 as it does other Level II illnesses like MRSA. Parents and staff will be notified when three or more positive cases are confirmed in a single classroom or one athletic team within one week. WCSD will not post weekly COVID-19 reports online during the 2022-23 school year.

Following DPH and CDC guidelines, it is recommended that those who test positive for COVID-19 stay home 5 days and be fever-free for 24 hours with other symptoms improving before returning to school/work. Absences for positive students will be excused with a parent or doctor's note. Based on the latest CDC guidance, close contacts are not required to quarantine. However, absences for those who choose to quarantine following an exposure will be excused with a parent note.
