Internet Certificate Installation Instructions

Select your operating system: 

Windows PC

  1. Download the certificate HERE
  2. Firefox users need to manually install the certificate into the browser.  Instructions for Firefox cna be found HERE
  3. Install the certificate (you need admin rights on your device to do this) following the directions below.  
    1. To add certificates to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store for a local computer, from the WinX Menu in Windows 10/8.1, open Run box, type mmc and hit Enter to open the Microsoft Management Control.
    2. Press the File menu link and select Add/Remove Snap-in. Now under Available snap-ins, click Certificates,and then click Add.

    3. Click OK. In the next dialog box, select Computer account and then on Next.

    4.  Now select Local computer and click on Finish.

    5. Now, back in MMC, in the console tree, double-click on Certificates and then right-click on Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store. Under All tasks, select Import.

    6. The Certificate Import Wizard will open.

    7. Follow the instructions in the wizard to complete the process.

      Now let us see how to configure and manage trusted root certificates for a local computer. Open MMC and press the File menu link and select Add/Remove Snap-in. Now under Available snap-ins, click Group Policy Object Editor and then click Add. Select the computer whose local GPO you want to edit, and click Finish / OK.

    8. Now, back in the MMC console tree, navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings. Next Public Key Policies. Double-click Certificate Path Validation Settings, and then select the Stores tab.
      Here, select the Define these policy settings, Allow user trusted root CAs to be used to validate certificates and Allow users to trust peer trust certificates check boxes.

    9.  Finally, under Root Certificate stores, select the root CAs that the client computers can trust and click OK.

     


    Windows Mobile (Back to Top)

    1. Download the certificate HERE.
      .
    2. Open the certificate and follow the onscreen prompts. 

     


    Chromebook (Back to Top)

    •  No action is needed - please sign in with your school account. Private accounts are not supported.

     


    Apple / Mac (Back to Top)

  1. Download in the certificate from here.
      .
  2. Open the .cer file.  When prompted, change the Keychain to "System", then click Add. 
      .
  3. Open the Keychain Access if it is not already open.  Double-click the FGT37D4Q17800382 certificate.
      .
  4. Expand the Trust section and change "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust".  Close the window.

  5. The red x on the certificate should now be a blue + indicating the certificate is properly installed. 

 


iOS Devices (iPad / iPhone) (Back to Top)

  1. Download the certificate HERE within Safari.
    .
  2. Click on the downloaded file and press the Install button.
    .
  3. You will be prompted with a warning message that says, "Installing this profile will change settings on your iPad."  Press the Install Now button.

 


Android Devices (Back to Top) (please note - you must have a screen pattern lock or password for this to work
  1. Download the Internet security certificate from HERE. Open with defaults. 
    .
  2. Give the certificate a name (whatever you like) and press the OK button.

  3. Configure the WiFi connection to WCSD like the screenshot below, but with your login information:  
    Android

  4. If you have trouble connecting to wireless you might not have the WiFi certificate installed. Click HERE to download the WiFi certificate  
    .
  5. If prompted to sign in with your @walton.k12.ga.us or @waltonstudent.org account in a pop-up window then just use the same username and password you use to check your e-mail.
