Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol students serve the school daily by monitoring the hallways and helping teachers and students during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Students raise and lower the school's American flag daily and meet about three times each semester.

The main goal of Safety Patrol is to be a part of the team that keeps our school safe. Most of the time that means reminding students to walk in the halls and keep walkways clear for student traffic, but sometimes students help younger students find classrooms or other resources in our school. Students are challenged to be the model student for the behaviors they expect to see in the halls, in the classroom, on the playground, and even after school.

Each year 5th grade students apply to become a member for one semester. About 30 students each semester serve either a 30 minute morning or afternoon shift.

Belonging to Safety Patrol promotes a life of leadership and service. Students lead by exemplifying safe, helpful and respectful behavior. Also, students learn about patriotic observations and traditions, as well as American flag etiquette. Our student patrols are proud to be school role models and enjoy feeling like they are contributing to our overall sense of safety in our school community.
