COURSE DESCRIPTION
AP Studio Art courses are rigorous and fast paced with regular deadlines. They require weekly studio hours outside of class including extensive summer assignments.
These accredited College Board programs set a national standard for performance in the visual arts that contribute to the significant role the arts play in academic environments.
AP 2-D ART & DESIGN, AP DRAWING and AP 3-D ART & DESIGN PORTFOLIOS
Unlike other AP courses which have an end-of-course exam, AP Studio Art culminates in a graded two-part portfolio. There will be upwards of 20 total works submitted digitally and/or physically. As with all AP courses, there is a cost incurred with this exam/portfolio, usually in the $100 range.
INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
• Explore creative and systematic investigations of formal and conceptual issues.
• Create art as an ongoing process that involves informed and critical decision making.
• Develop technical skills and learn the functions of the visual elements.
• Become independent, inventive, and critical thinkers.
