School Social Workers
The practice of social work within the Student Services Department focuses on finding effective ways to resolve problems which significantly interfere with student learning, achievement or adjustment. School social workers provide a wide range of services to students, parents and educators. School social workers work closely with the county departments of Human Resources, Mental Health Agencies, Juvenile Court and Law Enforcement.
School nurses are a vital part of Walton County School District. Each school has a full time nurse during school hours.
School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. School nurses provide health services that increase school attendance and prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases. School nurses administer specialized services to students, including medications, insulin, inhalers, tube feedings, and tracheostomy care. School nurses are responsible for verification of immunizations and provide hearing/vision screenings. School nurses manage students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes and seizures.
School nurses improve attendance through health promotion, disease prevention and disease management.
It is the policy and practice of the Walton County School District to provide opportunities without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, handicap, disability, genetic information or veteran status in its educational programs and activities.
