2018-19 Academic Calendar
The Walton County Board of Education has approved the 2018-19 academic calendar. The 180-day calendar has a start and end date of Aug. 1, 2018 and May 24, 2019, respectively.

In an effort to better serve the WCSD community, the proposed 2018-19 calendar was based on over 3,600 survey results from parents, employees and community members. The three “most important” aspects of the calendar were: (1) a one-week Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 19-23), (2) completing the school year before Memorial Day and (3) a one-week Fall Break (Oct. 15-19). The tentative calendar meets these requests and provides an extended Winter Break (Dec. 20-Jan. 4) while still maintaining 90 instructional days required on the block schedule.

“We appreciate the feedback we received via the parent and community survey,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “Our team has worked hard to put together a calendar that, we feel, best satisfies the wants of our community and meets our academic requirements.”

The most notable changes occur during Fall and Spring Intersessions. Due to the PSAT on Oct. 10, Fall Intersession is scheduled for Oct. 15-19, a week later than usual. In order to return from Winter Break on Mon., Jan. 7 instead of Fri., Jan. 4 and finish the school year before Memorial Day, Spring Intersession has been changed to an extended weekend break beginning on Fri., Feb 15 with students returning on Wed., Feb. 20, 2019.
