Important November Events
PTSO/Local Scholarship Application Release
October 31st via school email to seniors
Seniors will receive an email from Ms. Andrea Mitchell. It will have a link to the application for all PTSO
and local scholarships. It will include all instructions for completing and submitting the application. IT
WILL NOT BE EMAILED TO PARENTS.
Many civic groups go through the school for their scholarships.
Without this application complete we will not be able to submit your senior for consideration.

Paying for College
November 6th at 6pm in the Theater at LHS
A representative from Georgia Student Finance Commission will be speaking on financing college.
Programs for funding college. GSFC is responsible for HOPE Scholarship, Zell Miller Scholarship, and
many more financial. This program is open to all interested parents and students.

NCAA Eligibility Night
November 14th at 7pm in the Theater at LHS
Steve Flippen, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance from UGA, will be speaking on the do's and
don’ts of being eligible to play a sport at the collegiate level. He will address both Division I and Division
II requirements.

Apply to College Day
November 15th during school hours
This event is open to seniors only. Assistance will be given for seniors to complete college applications
during their elective class time. Numerous college admission counselors will be present to assist
students in completing online college applications. Various colleges will waive application fees during
this time.

FAFSA Night Out
November 29th at 6:00 – 8:00pm in LHs Media Center
This is a Senior Parent drop in event. Bring your 2016 tax information to the LHS Media Center. We will
have financial aid officers from local colleges to assist you in completing the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (Financial). This is your application for Pell Grants, Student Loans, etc. Colleges need this
complete before they can issue a financial report of what it would cost you to attend.
