2017 Graduation Rate at 83.2%
The Walton County School District achieved its highest graduation rate at 83.2% for 2017. The Georgia Department of Education released district and school-level scores today, with the state’s graduation rate at 80.6%. The 4-year cohort method is based on the number of students that graduate within four years plus one summer and includes adjustments for student transfers.
The 4-year cohort data since the inception of the College Career Readiness and Performance Index (CCRPI) is below:

“I commend our graduates for their hard work and our staff for their commitment to reaching all students,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “While the state has rigorously increased graduation requirements over the past several years, our district has continued making adjustments to help all students achieve. The academic support programs and credit recovery opportunities we offer provide our students with additional resources to achieve at high levels.”
The school district has implemented several programs to assist students academically including credit recovery, fall and spring intercessions, summer school and career development. Walton County is devoted to preparing its students for both college and career opportunities.
In an effort to overcome nonacademic barriers that students may face, WCSD has partnered with Communities In Schools of Walton County (CIS) and has CIS site coordinators in each middle and high school. CIS offers schoolwide programs and one-on-one support to help students take full advantage of their educational opportunities. New to Walton County this year, the district has partnered with Foothills Charter High School, which provides another resource to help students receive their high school diploma in a non-traditional setting.
