Inclement Weather Plan

1. Notification
a. The decision has been made to hold the MAHS Graduation Ceremony in the Gym at 6:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2018.
b. Notification will be sent via phone using listed numbers in our Callout System and via email using addresses in the Infinite Campus system. We will be unable to notify those who are not correctly listed in either of these systems.
c. In addition notifications can be found on social media: Twitter “@MonroeArea” and Facebook “@MonroeAreaHighSchool”.

2. Tickets
a. The gym bleachers hold 1500 people.
b. Each Graduate was given 6 tickets during practice on Thursday.
c. Only those visitors with a ticket will be allowed in the Gym. (Children under 3 years of age will not need a ticket but will have to sit on an adult’s lap.)
d. Tickets should be distributed to those persons that the graduate and his or her family feel should attend the indoor ceremony.

3. Seating (GYM)
a. The gym will open to guest at 4:45 PM. Seating is on a first come - first serve basis. (Ticket Holders Only)
b. There will be no saving of seats in the gym after 5:15.
c. Ticket Holders are asked to move to the center of the bleachers so that we can accommodate everyone holding a ticket.
d. The Handicapped seating area is on the top level of the gym. Those who are in a wheelchair or for other reasons cannot walk down the bleacher steps may sit in this area. One other person is allowed to accompany and sit with those requiring assistance.
e. Handicap visitors and the person accompanying them must have a ticket.
f. All entrances into the Gym will be closed at 5:50. No one will be allowed to enter the gym after 5:50. This will allow the ceremony to begin on time and without disruption.
g. Those planning to attend this graduation ceremony should arrive early, the gym fills quickly.

4. Seating (Closed Circuit Rooms)
a. All visitors without tickets are invited to watch the graduation ceremony on a closed circuit TV in the auditorium, the cafeteria, and in select classrooms. This is a live broadcast feed projected on a screen. The closed circuit accommodations can seat approximately 1200 people.
b. Visitors may enter a CCTV room at any time during the ceremony.

5. Restrooms
a. Visitors in the Gym will use the restrooms on the main level nearest the Concession Stand. No one will be allowed to use the restrooms located on the GYM floor level.
b. Visitors located in the CCTV rooms may use the restrooms nearest the auditorium or on the main hall between the Purple and Green Halls.

6. Parking and Drop Off
a. Parking spaces are located at MAHS, MES, and at the BOE. General parking at MAHS is located to the right as you face the school front entrance.
b. A designated handicap parking lot will be available in the front of the school (left parking lot as you face the front entrance). Official Handicap Parking spots (Blue signs) are also in various places around the building.
c. The drop off area for all visitors is located in the front parking lot on the right ride of the main entrance. Visitor Parking is not allowed in this lot.
d. A designated handicap drop off area will be available in the front of the school (left parking lot as you face the front entrance). Only vehicles displaying a Handicapped tag or license will be allowed to enter this area.
e. Golf carts will not be available due to the weather.

7. Entering the Building
a. The MAHS front main entrance will be the only entrance used to enter the graduation ceremony for the general public. All other entrances will be locked.
b. As you enter the building, visitors will be divided into two lines, one with tickets and one without tickets. You will be asked to follow the line in to the gym or in to a CCTV room.
c. Additional exit doors will be available at the conclusion of the ceremony.

8. Miscellaneous
a. Food and drink (other than water) are not allowed in the gym during the graduation ceremony.
b. No one will be allowed on the gym floor prior to or during the ceremony.
c. No one will be allowed to sit or stand on the bleacher stairs at any time.
d. Everyone must be seated in the bleachers (no standing) or in the handicap section.
e. During the ceremony pictures can be taken from the bleacher seats only.
f. Standing along the top level of the gym is not allowed.
g. Balloons or other items that may block the view of attendees are prohibited in the gym.
h. Any sound making devises that may cause a disruption or distraction are not permitted in the gym. (Air horns, etc.)
