Three Walton County School District students have been selected as finalists for the 2018 Governor’s Honors Program (GHP), a residential summer program for gifted and talented rising high school juniors and seniors.

“I commend these students for their hard work, which has afforded them the opportunity to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “This experience will allow them to showcase their talents while continuing to pursue excellence in their respected areas of study. We are proud of them and know they will represent us well at the state level.”

Over 3,000 students from across the state were nominated and 1,600 students participated in the interview/audition process. Since the program is fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly, there is no charge for students to attend. Students from across the state will spend four weeks at Berry College exploring topics not usually found in the typical high school classroom within their major area of nomination. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in which to study. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts and performances.
