Summer Enrichment Program

A free summer enrichment program is being offered to all MAHS students from June 4th -29th, Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm at Walnut Grove High School through the 21st Century program.  Activities include art, drama, gaming, step, STEM, flag football, volleyball, fitness conditioning and much more. This program includes free lunch and transportation.

Registration forms are on MAHS website, in the front office and outside of Ms. Johnson office on the Purple Hall Room 245 A. The deadline to register is May 21, 2018.  

Students must receive written confirmation of acceptance prior to attending. Do not miss out sign up today!  Space is limited.

Firefighter Program

Rising Juniors and Seniors:  Are you interested in becoming a firefighter after graduation? Are you 16 years of age, have reliable transportation every day? Have at least a 2.5 GPA, good attendance and good behavior? Would you like to go ahead and start learning what firefighters really do?  If so, Come fill out a Work Based Learning application with Mrs. Tricia Brown in Room 215 on the Green Hall. You must be on track to graduate and you would need to take 2 classes in the morning and be available to go to the fire station 3rd and 4th blocks all year.

Congratulations to Amiaya Reddish on her acceptance to Gordon State College.
Congratulations to Presley Rowe for receiving the US Naval Sea Cadet William T. Schwendler Award for Excellence, Outstanding Metro Cadet.  He also received a $1,500 Scholarship.

Yearbook Distribution

Students:  Yearbook distribution will take place Friday, May 18 in 4th block.  If you would like to purchase a yearbook prior to that date, please see Ms. Malcom.  There are only 22 yearbooks left.  They will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

Additionally, if you would like to purchase a 2016-2017 yearbook, there are 40 copies available for only $20 a piece. These are available now for purchase.  Again, see Ms. Malcom to remit payment.

Track Update

Congratulations to our boys track team on their 3rd place overall finish in state competition last week in Albany.  This is an awesome accomplishment, considering there are 58, 3A schools in Georgia.

We have two individual state champions:
-Chase Spann is the state champion in the 400 meter sprint.  He won in a school record time of 48.82 seconds.
-Elijah Compton is the state champion in the 300 meter hurdles.  He won in a time on 38.48 seconds.  
-Also, Elijah is state runner up in the 110 meter hurdles with a school record time of 14.50 seconds and Chase placed 5th in the 200 meter sprint with a season best time of 22.09 seconds.
-Chase and Elijah was joined by Dalton York and Christian Austin to place 4th in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3 minutes 24.46 seconds.  


Help students in Tanzania with Ms. Nagle!

This summer Ms. Nagle will be working with schools and an orphanage in Moshi, Tanzania. She is collecting supplies until the end of the school year. See this post for more information about her trip and needed supplies. More +

CTI Winners

Congratulations to our CTI Students for placing in events at the Georgia CTI State Leadership Competition! Brandon Bryant placed 3rd in the state for Technology Skill and Skyler Davis placed 3rd in Drafting and Design.

MAHS Named AP Honor School

MAHS has been named an AP Honor School in (2) categories: AP Access and Support School and AP Humanities School! Congratulations to all the Purple Hurricanes taking AP classes and the teachers who help make this program a success!

21st Century Program Information

Students are you looking for homework help, tutoring, and exciting new programs after school?  Join MAHS 21st CCLC after school program today!

We provide tutoring in English, Literature, Math, Biology, Chemistry and SAT preparation.

Check out our clubs:  STEM Club (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Chorus, Art Club, Step Team, Hurricane Career Club, Strive and Drive, Philosophy Club and more.

After school transportation is provided once you are enrolled in 21st CCLC if needed.

Registration is required to join the program.  Pick up a Registration Form from 21st CCLC Site Coordinator, Ms. Johnson on the Purple Hall Room 245 A  and have your parents fill out and sign the form.  Return the form and you will receive an acceptance letter upon approval.
