All K-5 students have General Music classes once a week for 45 minutes. We will be singing, composing music, playing and making instruments, dancing, and analyzing our own musical performances as well as professional performances. We try to relate what we do to what the students are doing in their academic classes as many times music can be the catalyst that helps them remember facts, dates, names, spelling, grammar, or even mathematical formulas.

We also have a Beginning Band (for 3rd-5th grade students who have been recommended by their homeroom teachers and never played an instruments before), Advanced Band (4th-5th graders who have played a minimum of 1 year for me a passed a playing test), and Chorus (2nd-5th graders who have been recommended by their homeroom teachers). All of these performing ensembles meet before school 7:50 am-8:20 am on different mornings.
