Home School Information

As of July 1, 2012, the responsibility of home school reporting moved from the local school systems to the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) in Atlanta. For information regarding home school guidelines including the Declaration of Intent, attendance, curriculum, testing, work permits, learner’s permit, driver’s license and more visit www.doe.k12.ga.us.

Enrollment/Withdraw

To submit your Declaration of Intent electronically, go to www.doe.k12.ga.us. After you click submit you will see a screen that will show a 36 unique character parent signature line.

IMPORTANT - Print a copy of the screen with that number for your records. This will serve as confirmation of enrollment (your official document of the GA Home Study Program) and will be required when your child wants a learner’s permit, driver’s license, work permit, post-secondary admission, military enlistment and all other entities that require proof of education.

If you wish to enroll your child in home school, follow the steps above and after you have your printed confirmation of enrollment, call your child’s school and arrange to withdraw.

If you wish to withdraw your child from home school to obtain a GED, please visit the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) website for further information.
