Nutrition - Information

  Minimize

Nutritious breakfast and lunch meals are served daily in all 15 schools. Meals reflect the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and student preferences as determined at student taste parties. Food specifications and food preparation assist in this effort. For school year 2009-2010: 2,991 breakfast meals and 8,429 lunch meals were served per day. The School Nutrition Program is a self-sustaining program which operates from monies received through payments for meals and reimbursement from federal and state programs. No local real estate tax dollars are used to support the program.

Revenues for this $5.7 million business come from the following sources:

  • 29% from student payment
  • 68% from federal funds
  • 3% from state funds
