Instructional Technology - Information

  Minimize

Our goal is to instruct teachers in the use of technology in their classrooms. It is also our responsibility to teach any new county-wide software adapted for use as an instructional, productivity, or record keeping tool. Software instruction has included, but is not limited to; Infinite Campus, NoteBook Software, ExamView, Online Assessment System, Inspiration/Kidspiration, and county email. Technology integration instruction has included the use of the interactive whiteboards, AlphaSmart computers, mobile labs, generating rubrics, video streaming, and making concept maps. We also offer professional development in many areas of technology. We are currently creating online professional development courses. These courses will be described in our P.L.A.D.O. course catalog which can be found at http://portal.walton.k12.ga.us
It is sometimes difficult for us to deliver consistent training for the staff of all schools due to the limited number of times we are able to be in the buildings. Ultimately we would like to have at least one Instructional Tech in every school, but that is still down the road.
  • We are in the process of implementing online training courses and help files for the various software packages that are in use in the district. This will allow many more staff members access to training on their own time schedule and from home, if they choose. A number of these are already in place.
  • We plan to be in schools as much as possible. Our plan is to use part of our time working with large groups and the other part of the time working with individual teachers.
  • We will schedule training sessions for staff for any items that are included in school improvement plans that deal with technology and require technology training. Our time will be more flexible because of the above outlined changes, so we can schedule a day, or even a week, to work with your staff on specific initiatives. The PLUs earned from these trainings should be directly tied to your improvement plan so we will no longer track this training – you will need to ensure that you have sign-in sheets for us, etc., and keep your own records as they pertain to the PLU courses that you establish.
  • We hope to offer some face-to-face courses at the board office annex as we have done in the past.
