AP Dane Callahan (8th Grade)

Assistant Principal (8th Grade) - Dane Callahan

Educational Background:

I attended Presbyterian College and obtained a B.S. in Psychology. Afterward, I pursued my middle grades certification in social studies and science at Piedmont University. Upon completing my student teaching, I enrolled at the University of Georgia, where I earned my M.Ed. in School Counseling (Go Dawgs!). For four years, I worked at Walnut Grove High School as a high school counselor and Varsity Girls soccer coach. I then transitioned to Youth Middle School, where I worked as a school counselor and head Varsity boys soccer coach for two years. During my tenure, I earned my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. Since 2018, I have served as an assistant principal at Loganville Middle School, where I began my career as an administrator.

Educational Philosophy:

Education is relationship centered, all students must feel they are inherent parts of our school, and they must be able to feel the pride of being members of LMS! Connections with teachers, staff, parents, community members, and peers are crucial in education. Relationships are the foundation of education because they lead to student success, well-being, and engagement. Trust is built through relationships, leading to better communication, academic success, and mental health. Relationships create a sense of belonging, motivation, and a desire to participate in class discussions and activities. Positive relationships with teachers and peers help students feel valued, supported, and understood. These relationships also promote positive behavior such as kindness, respect, and empathy. Positive relationships between administrators and teachers help teachers excel, and positive relationships between teachers and students promote growth.

Vision:

Loganville Middle School is devoted to cultivating an inclusive, nurturing, and dynamic learning community that fosters academic excellence, character development, and personal growth for all students. We envision a school that provides an innovative, challenging, and stimulating curriculum that prepares our students for the demands of the future. We aspire to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourages students to become responsible, empathetic, and engaged citizens. We aim to empower our students to achieve their full potential, develop a lifelong passion for learning, and become leaders who make a positive impact on their communities and the world. Our vision is to inspire, challenge, and transform our students' lives, and prepare them to thrive in a rapidly changing and interconnected world.
